Paging The Good Nun, paging The Good Nun -- AC2 is BACK.

Hey guys,

It's been a hot minute -- not sure how many of you remember me or were even around in AC with me (LoXish - Lich of Death, Omni Deus, etc. and so on) -- hope all is well!

As it happens, I still play AC (started again a couple of years ago, some major changes to that game, for sure)... which is why I can bring you this little diddy of information:

Turbine has re-launched AC2 and it is now free to play for anyone with an active AC1 account.

Bananas, right? Here's the link to the post from Severlin with the download link: http://forums.ac.turbine.com/showthread.php?t=57257

It's been a hit so far, granted it just launched today, tons of people playing -- I've seen atleast 15 people say they resubbed or started a new AC1 account just to play AC2, so that's something I guess. I've also seen no less than 5 mentions of The Good Nun, so figured she'd be interested to know -- if any of you are still in contact, in case she doesn't frequent these forums, please pass this along!

Anyway, good checking in, bummed that DF:UH got pushed, but my new guild on DT will be making an appearance once it launches -- if only to see "what all the hype is about" =)

Hope all is well!

I'm in and just shy of level 15. If anyone wants to hand checking out AC2 let me know. :)

It's SO GOOD to be back!

But AC2????

That was one of the biggest fails in gaming/PvP history to me....

Or did they revamp AC1 and call it the new AC2 now?

It launched with too little content and required advanced hardware rigs to run smoothly.

10 years later and the computers can run it just fine and the content was seriously beefed up via an expansion as a last-gasp so there's plenty to do and plenty to see.

The UI still needs work.

But I'm enjoying being back.

But i guess strafe casting and all other glitches that made AC1 a skillbased pvp game are not in there, or does it have something similar?

Well, first off the one server that's open isn't a PvP server. So you'll be disappointed right there.

The skill trees result in no one character having a full set of skills so it's a bit more group oriented. There are some tactical skills that grant bonuses depending on where surrounding a target you are, but I never went for those as I'm more lone wolf and small skirmish group type.

Soon I'll be switching to the most gimped character class but the one I love partially because it's gimped. The Alchemist. It's fun to go into Hulk mode and tromp all over the place. I think if they'd just give him a self-center AoE Knockback skill he would move right up into better balance.

Right now AC2 is mainly for some eye-candy and some nostalgia. I need to get a mount soon as I'm tired of hoofing it everywhere.

Consider it a curiosity that's now open free for you and maybe nothing more. :)

I loved AC1... This is why I was so disappointed of the whole AC2 system (I was playing only the beta tough). I really was hoping for a real AC1 successor.... but in the end Darkfall 1.0 was more one than AC2 imo. But yeah if you liked a game of course it has a nostalgic factor :)

I've heard rumors that if there is enough interest in the AC2 re-launch that there might be an AC reboot. Is there any kind of truth to this?

When I heard about AC2 being relaunched I was reading different articles about it and a couple alluded that the relaunch might be a test to see if a reboot is worth it. They were just gaming sites, nothing from turbine, probably just wishful thinking. Me myself I'm still playing WoW for some reason.
