I know I'm no expert and some components use a lot less power these days, but a 300w psu sounds pretty lightweight to me.

Oh lol I just read that's his current spec.

What does he want to do with his pc gaming, graphics, goat porn?

I do work in IT but I no expert on PC specs, I'm more of a system management and development kind of guy.

He wants the PC for gaming, mostly dayz, which I have just bought by the way.

Cheers me dears

build any new pc around the i5 3570k cpu and you cant really go wrong, get 8+gb of ram, 650+ geforce card (660ti+ if he wants hardcore gaming), 120gb ssd, 600w+ power supply (dont skimp on this buy a good brand) and a case with decent cooling, win7 64 bit and off ya go, should be around 6-700 without the monitor and for that I would heartily recommend anything 120hz+ for gaming
